Build Confidence for Wild Swimming

At Shepperton Splash, our Open Water Training Lanes are perfect for swimmers who are new to open water swimming or those who feel nervous about entering deeper lake water for the first time. These specially designed training lanes provide a safe and supportive environment to help you gain confidence, improve your technique, and build the fitness needed to take on larger challenges — such as our popular 400m Open Water Swimming Course.

We offer two Open Water Training Lane lengths — 25m and 50m — both with extra-wide lanes for plenty of space and comfort while you swim. Whether you’re training for a triathlon, preparing for your first wild swim, or just looking to boost endurance, our lanes provide the perfect stepping stone into the world of open water swimming in Surrey.

The Perfect Introduction to Wild Swimming

Our Open Water Pools at Shepperton Splash offer the ideal experience for anyone new to wild swimming or open water sessions. Designed to simulate natural conditions in a safe, controlled space, they’re great for building strength and stamina before progressing to the 400m Open Water Swim Loop — a beautiful, clockwise course that gives swimmers a true taste of wild swimming in a friendly, managed setting.

Choose between 25m and 50m Open Water Pool lanes, each with generous width to ensure comfortable swimming for all abilities.

Open Water Swimming Requirements

Before diving in, please make sure you meet the following safety and participation requirements:

• You must be able to swim 400m comfortably and competently in a pool.

• All swimmers must complete an Open Water Swimming Induction and Swim Test Session during their first visit.

• Minimum age is 8 years.

  • Swimmers aged 8–16 years must be accompanied in the water by a competent adult swimmer or join one of our supervised group sessions.

• All swimmers must wear a brightly coloured swim hat.

• A tow float must be used at all times for visibility and safety.
